This piece shows my use of negative spaces and a side of my concentration. This idea was originally made for a painting but, I couldn't quite figure out the color scheme. I figured it was the perfect opportunity to use my idea in a piece that only involved the colors black and white. Since it was my first time working with marker, I actually found it fun. Pinata's are something that have always been used for big celebrations and important for our culture. In this image I tried to show the silhouette of what it would look like to be there. In my opinion being present when someone is hitting the piñata is nerve wrecking because people hit the piñata blindfolded, there's a line by age to hit the pinata, and you have to jump right away once the candy drops to the floor. What I find funny is that if no one has a bat, you have to bring out the family broom and pop off the top. I grew up thinking piñata's were for kid's but the older I got the more I found out I was wrong. People all ages jump in, some even pushing and shoving the kids. Piñata's are just something that bring excitement and we all look forward to apart from the food.

This piece was inspired by my grandma's home in Mexico. I was suppose to work with angles for the project so I could of chosen from things like faces, landscapes, a certain object or what I found the hardest, a corner of a home. I felt like this was the perfect time to challenge myself and try something I don't do often. I decided to draw my grandma's kitchen which I find unique because it's full of color. Her kitchen is mainly yellow and the furniture around is what adds more color to it. Since it is drawing I wanted the lines to stand out more and the other objects to be almost like a sketch. It was amazing to see how much detail I could remember from the chairs to even her radio she listens to everyday. Now that I am older, I tend to think more about the small things and see everything my own way. I love who I've become and that I learned to love and appreciate the small things.
